Frequently asked questions on Colloidal Silver
What is a colloid? - A colloid is defined as a particle in a liquid medium suspension. In this case, the silver is understood as the particle and the purified living spring water is the liquid medium.
How is Aquasafe Colloidal Silver made? - Aquasafe Silver is an ‘electro-colloidal silver’ made with certified organic, purified living spring water using the ‘low voltage electrolysis’ method. It has a concentration of 16-20ppm (parts per million, ppm is a scientific measurement) except for the Nasal Spray that has a concentration of 8-14ppm and contains particles of silver which all carry a POSITIVE electrical charge. The Silver is both colloidal and ionic - it is considered colloidal because of the particle size and it is considered ionic because of the particle charge. ‘Colloidal’ means a solid particle is suspended in a liquid - silver in water. ‘Ionic’ refers to a particle having an electric charge - in the case of ‘electro-colloidal’ silver, this electric charge is always positive.
Why is Colloidal Silver not used much anymore? – Simple answer, production methods were costly in the 1930s so the pharmaceutical industry moved in, causing colloidal research to be set aside in favour of fast working and financially lucrative drugs.
If it is so effective why isn’t it used in today’s medical world? – Good question!
Some hospitals in Europe utilize silver-coated catheters to help prevent the occurrence of opportunistic infections. In America the FDA approved Silvadiene (Silver Sulfadiazine), a cream made with a silver salt. This product is the number one burn cream used in hospitals. It is a remarkable wound dressing that delivers silver ions directly into severely damaged tissues which prevents infection and speeds tissue formation and healing. Its use has saved tens of thousands of lives since it has gained wide acceptance.
The medical profession are at a loss as to how to protect us against the new strains of antibiotic resistant bacteria and viruses that are now invading the world and especially getting into the hospitals. But while the drug companies have such a hold on the medical world then it is hard for Colloidal Silver to get a footing.
How does Colloidal Silver compare today’s antibiotics? - When compared to pharmaceutical antibiotics, Colloidal Silver
− leaves beneficial tissue-cell enzymes intact
− has never been known to have resistant strains develop
− is effective against more than 650 disease-causing pathogens including
viruses: antibiotics are effective only against about 12 forms of bacteria and fungi,
but never viruses
− is considered to be ‘a second immune system’
Are there any compounds or stabilizers in your colloidal silver?
Aquasafe guarantee their colloidal silver is free from any compounds or stabilizers.
What is Argyria? - Argyria is an extremely rare condition caused by the ingestion of elemental silver, silver dust or silver compounds. The most dramatic effect of Argyria is that the skin is coloured blue or bluish grey. For this to occur the silver particles have to be large enough to become trapped in body tissues. In Colloidal Silver the particle size ranges between 0.001 and 0.002 micron (a micron is a millionth of a millimetre) and it is scientifically accepted that at this size the silver particles are small enough to be absorbed directly into the bloodstream, when held under the tongue for a few seconds. They are too big however to pass through the cell membranes, thus avoiding accumulation in the body.
Why all of a sudden is so much being written about Argyria? - One has to wonder why this fable about the condition is being widely circulated at this moment in time. Is it simply a weapon formed against colloidal silver by those who wish to stop its use among the people? The pharmaceutical companies know they cannot patent silver and they are very aware that their antibiotics are becoming more and more strain resistant, leaving mankind and our animals unprotected. The risks associated with colloidal silver use in comparison to the dangers presented by modern drugs are minuscule.
Why do Churches use silver chalices? - Churches use silver chalices to prevent transmission of infection when taking communion. This had been common knowledge to them through the centuries! The thought of sharing wine between dozens of people would be an ideal way of spreading an infection.
Can you take it with other things? -
Extensive research* into the curative properties of silver conclude that silver works on a wide range of bacteria, without any known side-effects or damage to the cells of the body, and that it is safe to take with other products.
